What is CDSE ?

CDSE is combined defence services examination . As name suggests it is common exam for officers entry in ARMY , NAVY and AIR FORCE . It offers two types of commissions
  1. Permanent commission
  2. Short service commission
You have to give your choice at the time of form filling
It is the graduate level entrance exam for becoming commissioned officer in Indian armed forces . It is a combined exam for Army , Navy and Air force. This is objective exam. Students who are graduates of any stream ( or appearing for final year exam ) and interested in career in defence services as an officer can opt for this exam.

What is after ?

Students Successful in this exam will join one and half year training for permanent commission and 49 weeks training for short service commission on completing the training successfully students will be given the commission in Indian armed forces.
Fees:- The entire cost of training is born by Central government so students don`t have to pay any fees but he has to sign the bond that he will serve in Indian armed forces. Students will be paid the stipend during the training.

Eligibility Criterion

Age: 20 to 24 (Before joining Training)
19 to 23 (For form filling) ( This exam is a one year process hence form filling age is less by one year. Thus first attempt of CDS entrance exam for every student is in the final year of his graduation only. )

The syllabus for all the papers is of the level which can be expected from any graduate without any special studies. In English all the questions are based on grammar , usage of words and phrases , comprehension etc. The general knowledge paper includes current affaires History , Geography , Physics , Chemistry , Biology etc. related questions
Maths syllabus is given in the Notification . Students are advised to go through the notification for exact idea and any changes if there are
